About Christie

Christie PTA Mission

The Christie PTA shares the three-fold Mission of the Texas PTA:

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

PTA is a grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers and others around the state who have a special interest in children, families and schools. PTA membership is as diverse as Texas is in cultures, education levels and parenting skills. By joining PTA, a member automatically becomes part of the largest child-advocacy organization in the state -- over 630,000 strong across Texas.

PTAs serve as a type of forum where parents, teachers, administrators, and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education, strive to expand the arts, encourage community involvement, and work for a healthy environment and safe neighborhoods.

PTAs work for children. PTAs meet together, study problems, support teachers, volunteer in schools, attend workshops on parenting and become informed on issues regarding children and youth. As a result, PTA members become better parents, teachers and citizens.

Goals for 2011-2012 School Year

Enrich Student Learning:
Support students, parents and teachers with programs and events that enhance the total learning environment, both academically and socially, by providing opportunities such as after school activities, assemblies, and funds for field trips and classroom support.

Promote Communication, Collaboration and Advocacy:
Collaborate with families, students, school staff and the community to promote the health, education, and safety of Christie students.

Build community within Chrisite through good communication, parenting support, and active parent participation at school.

Inform our membership about legislative and other governmental issues affecting the care and education of children.
